1) I love Ellie Goulding more than some of my family members and I would do almost anything she asked. I want to do a post on how I basically low-key worship her but I just can't really explain why I feel so strongly for everything about her. Her music, aesthetic, personality, I'm hooked. Not in a stalker way or anything.
2) Supporter of the LGBTQ community because if I wasn't I'd be a hypocrite. If you hate this group of people and find them all disgusting then we can never be friends and if we are friends or related, that's even more unfortunate for both us cause we'll have to pretend we aren't. I know people who keep their homophobia close to them and I'm tired of it. I can't change people but those around them that don't feel the same can at least know that they aren't crazy for supporting the community.
3) I'm black, thus I feel as if it's a dumb idea to be racist. Thus, I'm not and I'm smarter for it unlike many parts of the south (cough cough AL cough cough MS too). I don't think it's cute nor do I think it's okay because of the current President we have. Why do you hate a whole group of people who have never done anything to you? Your parents told you so? Aren't you smart. TV told you that a certain group of people acted a certain way that you didn't approve of? You're so smart for listening to everything the media tells you. A few people of a certain race wronged you and now everyone like them is evil? Valid arguments can be a thing when you're smart. I get upset with racist white America as much as anyone else, but I'm actually smart enough to know that it's that sub group that's problematic and not everyone who looks like them. Everyone has those people that make them look bad and you need to be able to separate those people from the group they come from. I also don't like when the LGBTQ community claims to be open to everyone but then calls bisexuals greedy and not valid. Same mood. Just because some people you dated that claimed to be bi actually weren't bi and they hurt you or acted weird does not mean every bi person you meet is like that. You can keep that BS to yourself.
3) I love rock and alternative/indie music more than any other type of music. That so called phase everyone went through in middle school when they listened to Evanescence, Linkin Park, Flyleaf, Hawthorne Heights, 30 Seconds to Mars, My Chemical Romance, and more wasn't just a phase to me. I love that kind of music and will listen to a certain amount of screaming if it's not excessive or crazy. Bring Me the Horizon, Issues, Twenty One Pilots, In This Moment, Sleeping with Sirens, Pvris, I Prevail are just a few of the artist that I've expanded to and I will continue to head bang until the day I die. People get so surprised when they hear some of the stuff I listen to because being black, rap and R&B are the only types of music I'm allowed to like apparently. Which is unfortunate. Weird how stereotypes don't seem to hold a lot of the time.
4) I want to live in a different country for a while because I think that if you're able to and you don't try it out, you're missing out on getting a better perspective of what the rest of the world is like. The same with knowing two languages. I think it makes you more well rounded of a person and shows that you realize that knowing one language isn't as fun as knowing two. Also, the decisions that America makes sometimes has me on edge that some "The Handmaid's Tale" crap could go down any minute and I don't have the patience or head space for it.
5) I have a love/hate relationship with the south. Southern hospitality is definitely a great thing but so is southern savageness. "Bless your heart" is just us saying in the sweetest way possible that you're a little dumb. I love how our nice way of saying certain things makes people think we're the nicest people ever. That title goes to the Canadians. Our food is epic, sweet tea should be available everywhere, and certain aesthetics are rustic and amazing. Not those white hoods and cloaks though. Or the blatant and closeted racism. It's tiring and crazy that people live here with such old mentalities. The fact that keeping up with times is so hard for the south sometimes baffles me because it shows how it's still ruled by people who want America to be "great again".
6) My oldest sister and I have the same name. She spells it with a K. We both are also the only daughters of my dad who don't have his last name. Coincidence, I think not. We're secret agents.
7) I'm a night owl. I feel more energized and creative at night when I'm working. It's when I'm better at focusing on things that I want to get done and when I do most of my research/ homework that was never supposed to be done the night before. Staying up late isn't hard for me usually and once you get over that 6 AM hump, you're good to go a full 24 hours. Less functional than you think you are but you're fine. Don't drive though.
8) The third Harry Potter Movie, the Prisoner of Azkaban, blew my mind. It was the best Harry Potter movie hands down because the first time Hermione pulled out that time turner and sent them back into the events that took place later that day, I flipped my shiz. I was amazed and baffled. I still get so impressed with how she and Harry were the cause of everything random that happened earlier in the movie. "Is that really what my hair looks like from the back?" Yes girl, Yes it is!
9) I can watch the movie "The Craft" all day. I would probably get tired of it after a few days of it looping but it's my favorite movie, next to Halloween, and I just think it's so iconic. The feel, it's aesthetic, the whole point of the movie. I'm here for it all. I know a lot of it word for word and if you like it too, you'l notice I quote it a lot. "He's sorry?! He's sorry! x8 (epic head shaking)" It's just such a great movie that can never be redone. It's impossible. It even had the Charmed (get the crystals Phoebe!) theme song in it so you knew it was a legit witch movie. It's perfection. Also, Neve Campbell....
10) I love the 80's and 90's aesthetic so much that I sometimes think I would've thrived a lot more back then. The music was so good that I still listen to it and find current artists who produce similar vibes. The clothing was more daring and loud. It's style is even trying to make a comeback in today's time, which tells you that it was onto something. Plus, it just seems like an awesome time to be around. Maybe it's why I love GTA Vice City so much and I love slasher movies made during this time because they feel like the time period they were made in. It's all about aesthetics honestly.
11) Doughnuts are life. Have you had one today? I probably had half a dozen while writing any of the posts you've read. They just symbolize, perfection. Read my post about them.
